imagePopeĀ Francis will close the Holy Door at St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican during a Mass in St Peter’s Square. With the closing of the Holy Door comes the end of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. The Holy Doors at the other three Papal Basilicas will be closed on Sunday 13th November 2016. Holy Doors around the world will close around the same time.

During this Jubilee, the Holy Father has asked all the faithful to reflect on, and carry out, the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Although the Jubilee comes to an end, we are called to continue reflecting on God’s mercy, and to show that mercy to others.

We have also been asked to reflect in a particular way on the sacrament of reconciliation. Truly, the door of the confessional is the Holy Door; when we enter through it and receive the sacrament, we receive an abundance of graces from God the Father, through His Son, in the Spirit.

We thank God for this Extraordinary Jubilee and the graces that we, the members of Christ’s Mystical Body, have received.
