Year of St Joseph (8th Dec 2020- 8th Dec 2021): In a new Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”), Pope Francis describes Saint Joseph as a beloved father, a tender and loving father, an obedient father, an accepting father; a father who is creatively courageous, a working father, a father in the shadows.
The Letter marks the 150th anniversary of Blessed Pope Pius IX’s declaration of St Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. To celebrate the anniversary, Pope Francis proclaimed a special “Year of St Joseph,” which began on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception 2020 and extends to the same feast in 2021.At the conclusion of his Letter, he adds another prayer to St Joseph, which he encourages all of us to pray together. We will recite this Prayer after Mass concludes each day to mark the Year of St Joseph. There are other Prayers to St Joseph in St Thomas website under title Prayers. A votive Mass to St Joseph will be celebrated each Wednesday out with the Liturgical Seasons of Lent/Easter/Advent/Christmas. Wednesday is traditionally the day we pray to St Joseph.

SCIAF Lenten Appeal: To contribute to SCIAF this year, you can do so by either sending a cheque to SCIAF, 7 West Nile Street, Glasgow G1 2PR or donating securely via their website www.sciaf.org.uk We will not be accepting monies/coins at the Church house as Fr Joe/Jonathan have not the time to sit and count monies and secondly money can transmit disease causing strains of bacteria or viruses.
Craig Lodge, Dalmally, Mission House for Young Adults
Craig Lodge Community is offering a new opportunity to young Catholics on how to live a life of mission. Craig Lodge Mission House is a nine-month residential programme for any young adult between the ages of 18-30 who desires to become a passionate lover of Jesus and become Spirit-filled evangelisers for the renewal of the Church,” (Pope Francis). Community, prayer and studying of the Catholic faith and learning to proclaim the Good News to others”. The mission house will begin in September 2021 and applications are now being accepted. New Gift Aid Envelopes (St Johns) We are about to order New Gift Aid envelopes for April 21 to April 22. Because of the Lockdown many Gift Aid envelopes and Non- Gift Aid envelopes were not collected. Given the present circumstances, extra care and attention much be given to the Parish budget. It costs the parish £800 each year to buy envelopes for collections. To aid our budgeting this year the following changes will have to be made:

Present registered gift aiders. (those who pay tax) containing envelopes for your weekly and second collections/monthly building fund.
Present registered gift aiders paying first collection via Standing Order (those who pay tax) containing envelopes, for second collections/monthly building fund only.

This avoids notices being lost/misplaced if the Anniversary is not intended for the forthcoming weekend but for another.
