John 21:20-25

Fr Joe has written a short reflection on today’s Gospel.

We conclude today the Gospel of St John. St John confirms the Gospel’s truthfulness as an accurate account of the life and teachings of Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. It is not an exhaustive or comprehensive account but there is adequate information to elicit from reading the entire Gospel the faith to arrive at the conclusion that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God and that believing this we may have life in his name.

As we approach the Solemnity of Pentecost may we have a great love of the living word Jesus, like St John the Evangelist had. May we also seek to rest on the Lord’s breast, heart to heart and allow the Lord’s words to make a home in us.

“Preach the gospel at all times, and only when necessary use words.“

St Francis of Assisi
