Read Pope Francis’ new apostolic exhortation on ‘the call to holiness in today’s world’.
Rejoice and be glad
The exhortation, entitled Gaudete et exsultate (‘Rejoice and be glad’), 
was given in Rome on the Solemnity of St Joseph, 19th March 2018.
The title is taken from the Gospel of Matthew (5:12); it is an instruction given by Jesus to those who are humiliated for His sake. Pope Francis’ goal in writing this exhortation is to “repropose the call to holiness in a practical way for our own time, with all its risks, challenges and opportunities” (GE, 2).
